The humble musings and adventures of our family

Catching up on summer

We enjoyed trips to the pool at the apartment complex:

Juliana got in trouble for using pen to mark on herself and not on paper...
Juliana loves the little shopping cart at the nearby Food Lion  (or Lion King as she calls it occasionally)
Helping Daddy to trim her nails after a shower
She enjoyed picking out her own clothes and jewelry and shoes :-)
We took Juliana to see her first movie: Inside Out, and she was absolutely thrilled about the popcorn. Of course we did have to take a potty break in the middle... We also made a trip to Abingdon, and Juliana saw the musical Mary Poppins at Barter Theater- which she absolutely loved!
We went to the nearby park to "play" tennis for a little bit. Juliana absolutely loved chasing after the tennis balls- made her giddy!

At the end of June, we did a sibling tour of the maternity ward of the hospital where we talked about where the baby would "pop" out of Mommy's tummy. All the little kids had to wear this protective clothing as they toured labor and delivery and the maternity ward with us. She declared this as her halloween costume and wanted to keep all of it.
When we got home, she got her medical kit out and diagnosed Daddy.
At the beginning of July, Aunt Caitlin got married ("and Evan's going to be my UNCLE!!!!"). Brian did awesome making sure Juliana had her nap (after tons of fussing- didn't want to miss all the excitement) so I could do the MOH duties.

Juliana played with her water table out on our patio at the apartment.
She was absolutely thrilled with these purple floats we found at Costco (Did you know purple is my favorite color mom?!). Plus we got some Ariel goggles (that of course, leaked, but oh well).
Even through this NC summer, she insisted on wearing long sleeve flannel nightgowns and her tons of blankets piled on top of her! But then I find her with that night gown pulled all the way up and she's lying on top of her blankets :-)
One week at school I asked her to wear a new dress everyday, because there were clearly favorites. Here she is- styling ;-)
We made a short weekend trip to Myrtle Beach to see Pap-pap and Grandma Paula. Juliana loved trying her hand at boogie boarding, and building sand castles. Here she is munching on a cucumber slice.
We went out to dinner one night at a Hibachi steakhouse and she was thrilled with the paper umbrella in her drink. Daddy made it an accessory for her hair.
Sitting on the giant Alligator that Pap-pap and Daddy made out of the sand.
Family of 3 (+1 growing) on the pier!
I had a conference at VA Tech to go to at the beginning of August and got into the red lidded box (high in the left corner of our closet) to check out shoes. Juliana found a pair of black high heels that she laid claim to, but then I ended up putting them back away. We had been keeping the pack 'n' play in the closet for the time being for the sake of more room in the bedroom and Juliana somehow managed to climb up into the pack 'n' play, up to that top shelf and lifted down the red lidded box to get out the black high heels I'd just put away... No clue how she did that!

"This is my happy face mom!" along with sniffles and tears. Sometimes, Juliana is really tired after a busy, fun day at school.
 39 week baby bump!
Juliana was gifted some money from Nanny and she decided to use it to buy this Cinderella dress/costume at Costco. Here she is also feeding Arhea (her baby doll) with a leftover bottle Mommy gave her to play with. She was definitely ready to start her big sister duties!
We made a walk down the street from the apartment to a retaining pond where Daddy and Juliana looked for frogs.
